Fishing
in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York
Sheepshead Bay is a bay separating the mainland of Brooklyn, New York
City from the eastern portion of Coney Island, the latter originally
a barrier island but now effectively an extension of the mainland with
peninsulas both east (the neighborhood of Manhattan Beach) and west
(the neighborhood of Seagate). Its mouth is about a mile (1.6 km) southwest
of Marine Park, Brooklyn.
Kimiko
Morozumi has been fishing on the Sea
Queen VII for eight years. She is a self taught fisherman. To be a women
she can hang with the men, most of the time out fishing them. She can
also fish in any weather conditions as these pictures will show you. Kimiko has caught every type of fish these waters have to offer (fluke, stripers, blues, sea bass and porgys). She said catching blackfish were her favorite because they are very smart and hard to catch.
